Further references

"Cameron House's late C19 rusticated stucco with vermiculated quoins disguises an early C17 bulding; formerly thatched, it is now pantiled."[2]

"The outstanding building in the tall terrace at the south-west corner of The Cross is Cameron House, early 17th century, with late 19th-century regular fenestration with vermiculated quoins."[3]

"Cameron House is held to be the birth-place of Richard Cameron, the Lion of the Covenant. Born in 1648 he became, according to tradition, schoolmaster in Falkland and precentor in the Kirk, then Episcopal. His conscience mvoed him to depart from his native town and join the fervent Covenanters in the West of Scotland. He died in battle at Aird's Moss in 1680, fighting to depose Charles II."[4]
