Additional references
Date: 1693
Initials: WF and EB
The stone shows the emblems of a flesher, the knife, the cleaver and the steel. Did the butcher prosper and move round the corner to Dundrennan?[3]
Notes
- ↑ HES record for LB31307. The lintel as viewed in 2021 doesn't support the claimed date of 1669. The date of 1693 given in The Stones of Falkland is plausible, but the final digit can no longer be read. Is the first initial a V or a W?
