The Mercat Cross, or Market Cross, formerly stood in the High Street where it opens up into a square space (sometimes referred to as "the square" or even "the cross"). It is now marked by the shape of a cross in the cobbles hear the Fountain.
It probably gave its name to Cross Wynd and Cross House.
"No-one knows what it was like nor what became of it, but it stood, as you do now, at the centre of Falkland."[1]
See map: Map T (24); Map D (19).
