The Mill Burn, sometimes called the Roaring Burn or Crackling Burn, rises in the Lomond Hills and runs parallel to the Maspie Den through woodland (being crossed by the Bridge over Mill Burn, then through the House of Falkland designed landscape. It feeeds the pond near the East Lodge and then runs behind the lodge. The two Fish Pond Bridges occur before and after the pond and lodge. If merges with the Maspie Burn near the West Loan, but previously some of the water was diverted via the Mill Dam pond into the Mill Lade which powered the Turning Mill.
