The geographical coverage for this site is in the first instance the Royal Burgh of Falkland and the Falkland Conservation Area, extending subsequently to the historic Parish of Falkland (and two sites of particular interest outwith the Parish).

Within the limits of the parish, we aim ultimately to include:

• all listed buildings and scheduled monuments
• all buildings mentioned in the main books about the buildings of Fife:
  • Gifford, Fife (Buildings of Scotland series)
  • Pride, Kingdom of Fife (Architectural Guides to Scotland)
• all buildings mentioned in some of our Falkland Society publications, including:
  • Playfair and Burgess, Falkland and its people 1901–1913,
  • A Falkland Guide

Welcome Falkland Town Hall Falkland Historic Buildings is an online database maintained by the Falkland Society, It was created as a way to preserve and display the outcome of The Falkland Listed Buildings Survey, launched in 2020 to capture information about the listed buildings, and Falkland's other historic buildings and structures. Falkland is very rich in historic and interesting buildings. Very many of them are Listed Buildings – buildings listed by Historic Environment Scotland for their special architectural or historic interest. But it's not easy to find out about the buildings or even where they are. Many of the buildings are listed in the HES records by names that bear no relation to their current addresses; this wiki is an attempt to locate our listed buildings and relate them to the current names and addresses.. Much of the historic core of Falkland village is within the Falkland Conservation Area. Two areas are designated by HES as "Gardens and Designed Landscapes": the Falkland Palace gardens, entirely within the Conservation Area the House of Falkland designed landscape, separate from the Conservation Area, but adjoining it to the west. The Survey Cross Wynd houses before demolition During August 2020 volunteers from the Falkland Society delivered a leaflet to every listed property within the Falkland Conservation area, and other buildings of interest, asking residents to tell us about their house, giving details such as any previous names the building was known by, and who lived there before 1970 (a 50-year cut-off to protect the privacy of current residents). The survey also aimed to cover special features of the building, for instance date stone, marriage stone, original doors or windows, bread ovens, etc., and any other buildings or structures in the curtilage. From World Photography Day, 19 August 2020, volunteers are taking photographs (as seen from the street) of buildings throughout the town. See also the "About page".
